The building housing the KEO winery was erected in 1927, the year KEO was established, and it was restored in 1996 when the winery was given its present form. At the same time, an area of 50 hectares of land around the winery was planted with vines in drills.

The composition of these vineyards is particularly multifarious, for it includes both indigenous and imported varieties. As regards the indigenous varieties, it is worth noting that KEO made an effort to revive forgotten Cypriot varieties that, for one reason or another, had been marginalized. Regarding imported varieties, the company selected Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Lefkada, Chardonnay, Riesling and others, not all of which, I would say, have been successful. The new vineyards have produced KEO’s new labels, for example, Riesling and the red and white Ktima KEO, which indicate the winery’s effort to bring out quality wines with a modern image.
